I’m curious what people are actually using in production right now. What is the best AI chatbot you can deploy live on a website in under a day? This article not only answers this question but also provides a cost comparison detailing what you get from each AI platform.

Not looking for a research project or something that requires weeks of engineering work. We are talking about a tool where you can:

  1. Connect your website, docs, FAQs, or help center
  2. Customize the experience
  3. Deploy it on a live website the same day
  4. Get reasonably accurate answers without endless prompt tweaking
  5. You are satisfied with the price.

During the research phase of this article, we tested 5 AI customer support platforms we believe are the best AI chatbots available now.. All of these are actively growing their capabilities and expanding their efficiency. None of these agents are related to AICE, and our recommendations are free of bias and do not in any way take a subjective viewpoint.

1. Chatbase

  • Probably the fastest and most advanced setup we’ve seen
  • Trains directly on websites, docs, PDFs, and knowledge bases
  • Supports website chat, WhatsApp, Instagram, Messenger, Slack, and other channels
  • Includes AI voice agents for businesses that want phone and voice-based customer interactions
  • Can handle lead qualification, appointment booking, support automation, custom actions, and workflows
  • Flexible enough for non-technical teams while still offering APIs and advanced customization

2. Intercom Fin

  • Makes sense if you’re already using Intercom
  • Good customer support focus
  • More of a  customer communication platform

3. Tidio

  • Easy to launch
  • Good for simple lead capture and FAQs
  • Felt more SMB-focused

4. Custom GPT + custom frontend

  • Maximum flexibility
  • Also the most work by far

5. Voiceflow

Looks good for conversation design and prototyping, especially if your focus is building conversational flows.

  • Maximum flexibility
  • Also the most work by far

My takeaway so far is that getting something to live in a day is easy.

Getting something that actually answers customer questions correctly after deployment is where most platforms start to separate themselves.

What’s the best AI chatbot builder under $100 per month?

best ai chatbots

I’m looking for an AI chatbot builder for a small business with a budget of around $100/month.

My priorities are pretty simple:

  • Easy to build without writing code
  • Can answer customer questions accurately
  • Works across multiple channels
  • Lets me connect my existing tools
  • Easy to improve over time instead of constantly rebuilding
  • Add interactive widgets instead of only text replies
  • Review analytics and suggestions to improve performance over time
  • Escalate conversations to a human when needed

After comparing a bunch of platforms, these are the ones I’ve narrowed it down to. Please note that this is not a ranking of the platforms.

1. Chatbase

What caught my attention is that it feels more like an AI agent platform than a basic chatbot builder.

From what I’ve seen, you can:

  • Build without coding
  • Deploy the same agent across chat, email, voice, WhatsApp, Slack, and more
  • Connect APIs and existing business systems
  • Create workflows for common customer requests
  • Add interactive widgets instead of only text replies
  • Review analytics and suggestions to improve performance over time
  • Escalate conversations to a human when needed

Chatbase also offers testing tools before deployment, a built-in helpdesk, and enterprise security features.

2. Zendesk AI

Seems like a good fit for businesses already using Zendesk and looking to add AI-powered automation to their customer support. It is truly one of the best AI chatbots that has expanded it scope over the years.

  • Build without coding
  • Deploy the same agent across chat, email, voice, WhatsApp, Slack, and more
  • Connect APIs and existing business systems
  • Create workflows for common customer requests

3. Voiceflow

Looks good for conversation design and prototyping, especially if your focus is building conversational flows.

  • Build without coding
  • Deploy the same agent across chat, email, voice, WhatsApp, Slack, and more
  • Connect APIs and existing business systems

4. Tidio

Appears to be aimed at smaller businesses that mainly want website chat and basic automation.

  • Build without coding
  • Deploy the same agent across chat, email, voice, WhatsApp, Slack, and more
  • Connect APIs and existing business systems
  • Create workflows for common customer requests

5. Intercom Fin

Seems like a solid choice if you’re already using Intercom and want to add AI to your customer support workflow.

  • Build without coding
  • Deploy the same agent across chat, email, voice, WhatsApp, Slack, and more
  • Connect APIs and existing business systems
  • Create workflows for common customer requests
  • Add interactive widgets instead of only text replies

  1. Getting an AI agent live in a few hours is no longer particularly impressive. The real test is what happens after launch: Can it answer accurately without constant prompt tweaking? Can it access the systems it needs to actually resolve requests? Can it escalate intelligently when it reaches its limits? And can the team measure and improve its performance over time?

  2. Launching a chatbot is easy; ensuring accurate answers is the real challenge. Post deployment capabilities quality knowledge, integrations, analytics, human escalation, and action taking matter more than a polished chat widget. For small businesses, the best platform is one that starts simply but scales into workflows without constant developer support, giving AI agents an edge over traditional builders.

  3. Chatbase stands out for flexibility and multi-channel reach, but the best choice really depends on whether you need a lightweight FAQ tool or a full support system.

  4. The part about post launch performance is so important, getting a chatbot live quickly is one thing, but accuracy, useful integrations, and smooth human handoff are what really make it valuable.

  5. This is a solid comparison, especially for small teams trying to keep AI support costs under control. I think the real difference comes down to how well each tool handles actual customer conversations, not just the starting price. The human handoff and how easy it is to set up are just as important. I’d definitely be interested to hear which ones people have used in real-world support.

  6. The real differentiator isn’t how quickly you can launch an AI chatbot and how well it performs once it’s live. Accuracy, integrations, human handoff, and continuous improvement matter far more than a quick setup. For a small business, finding the right balance between capability, ease of use, and cost is what makes an AI chatbot truly valuable.

  7. Getting a chatbot live in a day is great and all but the real test starts after the launch. How would it handle serious cases and how often does it need a human intervention?, how easily is it going to update its knowledge reservoir and connect it to systems like a CRM, billing platform or helpdesk?

  8. When comparing platforms like this, the interesting thing about selecting the best ones really depends on what you’re optimizing for.
Chatbase is a good choice for getting a fairly capable bot live quickly. Tidio it is appealing if you’re working with a simpler and potentially more budget friendly setup. While Intercom Fin is a great fit for teams that are already in the ecosystem and if customisation matters more to you than speed, Voice flow/custom GPat is your best bet.

For me, I’d test all parameters necessary to my niche before deciding which to go with. Whether it’s how fast the system goes live, what the actual cost looks like after it’s been hit with real customer traffic or how often it gives out right or wrong answers amongst others.

  9. A good chatbot should do more than just answer basic questions. It should understand your business information, handle different types of requests, connect with the tools you already use, and know when to hand a conversation over to a human. But honestly, getting a chatbot online isn’t the hard part anymore. You can connect your website, upload some FAQs or documents, customize the bot, and have something running within hours.
