Is Cal.com Actually a Better Choice Than Calendly for SaaS Startups?
I’m helping evaluate a few tools for a SaaS project, and scheduling is one of those decisions that seems simple until you actually have to make it.
Most conversations eventually come down to two options: Cal.com and Calendly.
On paper, both solve the same problem.
In practice, they seem to target slightly different priorities.
The part I’m struggling with isn’t comparing feature lists.
It’s figuring out which tradeoffs actually matter after the first few months.
For example:
-
Does extra flexibility end up saving time, or does it create more maintenance?
-
Does a simpler platform become limiting as your SaaS grows?
-
Has anyone switched from one to the other and felt it was clearly the right decision?
I’d rather hear from people who’ve been using either platform in a real business than rely on comparison articles.
If you’ve worked with Cal.com, Calendly, or both, what has your experience been like after the initial setup phase? Would you make the same choice again?
